Ticket from Andrea Fantin - Certification Exam

To Whom this may Concern,

Good Morning! I am reaching out to you with some feedback regarding the HUD certification exam that I took recently. While I think it was a pretty good measurement of our knowledge and experience I do have a concern about the test. As I entered the room at the testing center I was informed that I would not be allowed any paper or pencil, while most other people entering were allowed to have it. I took a test at a testing center in the past because I am a licensed social work, so I knew a little bit about what to expect, but for this test that surprised me a little bit. I don't believe that I was allowed paper and pencil for the other test approximately 7 years ago, but to be honest that would make sense because I do not recall that there was any math on that test.

There were a number of math questions on the HUD Certification exam and some that had multiple different layers to process. I can't imagine there will ever be a time in my career when I am sitting with a client and I can not take notes of what they are telling me and help them calculate their income and affordability or other various pieces of their financial situation. I feel think that not allowing us to bring pencil and paper was inappropriate to test our knowledge and ability for this test.

I wanted to provide you with this feedback with the hope that you will reconsider this restriction for those taking the test in the future.

Thank you,

Andrea Fantin
