I have taken this exam on 3 separate occasions.
Today when I took the Housing Counselor's exam, first, there was a hold up whereas, I was on hold before I could sign in for 10 minutes. After I was able to sign on for the exam, I was asked to present my ID to verify who I am, which I did. I held up my driver's license close up to the screen after I was asked to put my ID closer. The person who was in contact with me via email processed my ID, said that they had seen my identification. However, I was then asked did I have a company ID as well as another type of ID of which I never heard of. I explained that I did not have company ID because, where I work which is at a credit union, none of the employees have an employee ID. I also explained that I didn't have the other ID that was being requested as well. Then, the Support Personal person asked did I have an ID with my home address? I explained that the driver's license that I presented has my current and correct address. After going through this drawn-out procedure, I was told I could continue on to begin my exam, which I did. During the testing, when I was around the number 30 or a little beyond, questions there was a notice that came up on the screen stating that our office's "Internet service was interrupted". I was placed on hold for another 5-10 minutes. Then again, right before I finished the exam, the testing stopped again. I had to wait once again for a period of time before I could continue. Now, what truly was upsetting to me was before I submitted my exam, I checked all of my answers, I saw that somehow it showed that I had not answer 3 questions!! I have no idea how that could have occurred seeing that after a question is answered and a person wishes to continue, it's the system that sends a person to the next question after the button, "Next" is pushed! So, how I could possibly miss 3 questions is beyond me. Another issue I have is that many, many, many of the questions that were on this exam are not a part of the study guide, the practice testing or the Modules on the HUD site. I even asked a colleague if they knew the answer to tow of the questions I remembered from the exam. She was confused and surprised for she said she had never seen or heard of these types of questions of this type. I can't imagine a test being this difficult to pass for an hourly salary of $17.25 and yet I was able to pass with extremely high scores when entering graduate school and when I sat for 5 hours and took an exam for my teaching certificate. I did and do want to become a Housing Counselor because, I love helping people. However, this process is a bit tenacious and heartbreaking.
