Certification Exam - COVID - Test Center Closures

Dear Counselor,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of test centers across the globe have temporarily closed in order to slow the spread of the virus. Please review the information below to learn how COVID-19 has impacted certification:

  • CLOSURES - The real time list of closed test centers can be found here: Kryterion Test Center Closures.
  • AUTOMATIC RESCHEDULE - Candidates who are currently scheduled at a test center may be rescheduled to a future date when test centers are predicted to be open. Candidates may reschedule their exam to a more convenient date by logging into their HUDHousingCounselors.hud.gov user account.
  • ONLINE PROCTORING - Online proctored exam appointments are widely available, although candidates have reported extended shipping times when purchasing external webcams online. Find out more about taking the exam online here.
  • SWITCH TO ONLINE PROCTORING - Candidates who are registered to take the exam at a test center and would like to switch to the online exam should cancel their in-person exam for a full refund and purchase an online exam by logging into their HUDHousingCounselors.hud.gov user account. Please review the No Shows and Cancellation Policy before cancelling an exam.
  • REFUNDS - refunds will not be issued to candidates who fail to reschedule or cancel in time and do not show up to their examination per the No Shows and Cancellation Policy.
  • COMPLIANCE DEADLINE - HUD published an Interim Final Rule on the Federal Register website to announce a delay in the deadline for housing counselors to become HUD certified. The new final compliance date is August 1, 2021.
  • SUPPORT - Please submit an issue at HUDHousingCounselors.hud.gov/Support or contact Kryterion Support if you have any COVID-19 related rescheduling questions; or if there are fewer than 72 hours before your exam appointment and you would like to reschedule due to social distancing or self-quarantine measures.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as Kryterion and HUDHousingCounselors.hud.gov work to respond to rapidly arising issues during these unprecedented circumstances.

Sincerely,

The HUDHousingCounselors.hud.gov Support Team
