Documentation of extenuating circumstances is required to waive or refund fees outlined in the No Shows & Cancellations Policy. Please note that refunds and fee waivers will not be provided for situations in which the candidate purchased the wrong exam or failed to obey the rules.

Documentation may include, but is not limited to:

  • Note from a doctor identifying the dates of medical incapacitation
  • Flight itinerary or receipt displaying the dates of travel for emergency
  • Receipt for towing services or car repairs displaying the date of service
  • Detailed candidate statement which clearly defines the circumstances including the reason why formal documentation was not obtained 

Candidates are NOT required to disclose medical conditions or diagnoses.

To cancel or reschedule your exam, sign in to HUDHousingCounselors.com and select Change Your Test Date in the Countdown to your Exam! section of your User Profile Dashboard. Follow the steps to cancel or reschedule your exam. 

Test center exams may be rescheduled or canceled up to 72 hours before the start time without penalty. Online exams may be rescheduled or canceled up to 24 hours before the start time without penalty.
