Hello! I recently passed the exam. Is it possible to open a non-profit and begin counseling services right away? Is there a requirement that one must work for an existing counseling agency first? If so, is it possible to have that requirement waived? I believe I already have a rich background in housing related experience. Please consider the following:
1. I have been a real estate broker for 25 years and I also design and build homes.
2. I have a rich background in community planning including serving as Planning Director for Summit County, Utah and as a planning commissioner for 10 years. In that role, I helped pioneer affordable housing incentives in our County.
3. During the Great Recession, I bought, renovated, and rented 48 houses in Kansas City and Atlanta. I have first hand knowledge of the pains people go through in meeting their housing needs.
4. I have a masters degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University.

There is no approved HUD Counseling agency in Summit County, Utah, at least that I am aware of. I would like to begin serving this community as soon as possible.
