In order to be certified, an individual must both pass a standardized written examination covering six major topic areas, and work for an agency approved to participate in HUD’s housing counseling program. In other words, you can take the certification exam without being employed at a HUD-approved agency; however, to become certified you must pass the exam and work for a HUD-approved agency.  

Working on Module 4.2 and screen froze while taking the knowledge check 2. Unable to move on to the next page. I signed out, then back in; screen still frozen. Please advise. Thank you.

There are errors in the training. It said 2 different things in MOD 2.1 on slide 19/23 - it says FHA load backend has to be 41% and on slide 16/23 same MOD 2.1 says 43% for FHA loans which caused me to miss a few answers and contributed to my FAIL on the exam. I caught a few other mistakes reviewing the MODS as well.

Exam registration, cancellations, and changes are handled through your account on HUDHousingCounselors.hud.gov.

The practice exam is designed to give candidates a feeling for the format and style of test questions and the breadth of the subject matter in the test (90 questions that are not broken into smaller stand-alone sections). It is delivered in a similar format to the certification exam. The practice exam does not provide numeric scoring because performance on the practice exam does not guarantee passing results on the certification exam.

Is there a way to refund 2 of the $60 sessions. I never took the exam due to challenges in my set up. the instructions didn't go well and it timed me out twice causing me to lose $120 total with out even taking the test.

I am interested in know where to register for Housing Counseling Exam but in person in the North Bay area of CA. Is there a link?
