Upon completion of the certification exam, each candidate receives an immediate PASS or FAIL notification, as applicable. Candidates who pass receive an email outlining next steps.

I just wanted to make sure that the Examination facility will be open on the day that I am schedule to take the exam. My schedule date is July 5, 2019. I just wanted to reach out because the day before my exam is a Holiday ( 4th of July)

I am trying to launch the exam but it states it is not available

I registered and my email was entered correctly, but I have not received an email to complete registration. I have checked the spam folder and waited for 20 minutes or more. I was hoping to use this website today but it does not look like that will be possible.

In order to be certified, an individual must both pass a standardized written examination covering six major topic areas, and work for an agency approved to participate in HUD’s housing counseling program.

I tried to take the certification exam for the 4th time today. i answere 3 questions and it did not allow me to go forward and the tech on line was use less .please see if you can reschedule for tomorrow at 7 pm. Thanks . This is driving me crazy

Eligibility – In order to be certified, an individual must both pass a standardized written examination covering six major topic areas and work for an agency approved to participate in HUD’s housing counseling program. In other words, you can take the certification exam without being employed at a HUD-approved agency; however, to become certified you must pass the exam and work for a HUD-approved agency.

Exam registration, cancellations, and changes are handled through your account on HUDHousingCounselors.hud.gov.

To change your exam delivery type, sign in and select “Exam Center” at the top of the page, then select “Take Online Exam or Access Exam Details.” If you are already signed in, you can directly access the Exam Status Center. Follow the steps to cancel your scheduled exam (the exam purchase will be refunded to the credit card used), then follow the steps to register for a new exam.
