I would like to obtain the Housing Counselor certificate through my office. I work for the University of idaho Extension as their financial educator, counselor, and money coach. Although UI is not HUD certified, I am a certified counselor in the financial field. I work extensively with Habitat for Humanity (serve on the Board as well as family support committee) and a regional housing land trust. My background in financial counseling has earned me these spots. I would like to expand my reach as a certified housing counselor.

I am already on the HECM roster as a HECM counselor. HECM counselors must take and pass he HECM exam every 3 years. I will need to take the exam by 7/15/25 in order to remain on the roster. However I am having issues registering for the exam. Upon completing the exam registration form on hudcounselors.com I am directed to a page to begin the exam without scheduling or paying the exam fee. I am looking for guidance as to how I correctly register and schedule the exam.

Good morning. I've been trying to log in to take my exam for two days, and I keep getting this warning that I need to download the security browser. I've downloaded the security browser four times, and I'm still having trouble logging in. I'd like you to please help me resolve this problem so I can take my exam.

After taking the exam and becoming certified, how would I get a job? I looked on USAJOBS and found nothing related to HUD counselors. How long does the process take from studying for the exam to getting hired? Is there part time jobs available? Can I train for the exam while being employed elsewhere? If I don't pass the test the first time would I have to pay to take the exam again?

Hi, good afternoon. My name is Tiffany Kilpatrick and I have a counselor who has had issues on multiple occasions being able to register for the HUD exam.
